I was planning a birthday party for my daughter, who was turning sixteen and needed some suggestions. I was told by my friend that a good place for accessories was online where she got the supplies for her daughters party. So, I figured I’d see what they have. I was really surprised at what super favors and table decorations they had. I found a lot of nice stuff I can use for her party. I found these cute little cookie cutters in the shape of the number 16 and use it to make cookies for the party.
Before making any plans, I got her opinion on what she wanted for her party, and it was a party at the roller rink with all the girls sleeping over. So I made the arrangements, and reserved tables with the roller rink in our neighborhood. Then I invited all of her best girl friends. It didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. The party was to continue at our house after the skating, so I had to get everything ready. I put up decorations, fixed a table with a few goodies to snack on, along with the sweet 16 cookies I prepared earlier.
I ordered more than the cookie cutters when I went shopping online. Since I saved money on the roller rink deal, I decided it would be nice to get the girls a few sweet sixteen favors. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. I gave them the cameras before we left for the roller rink, but they had no idea about the albums until later. They all took a few pictures at the rink and wanted to save some film for the slumber party they were having afterwards.
Another party favor was a cosmetic bag with their first initial printed on the front. Along with that I also bought compact mirrors and manicure sets that matched their bags. I also sat out these adorable little favor boxes I bought online that were filled with candies for each guest. At home, her sweet sixteen idea and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. So, with all the other snack foods, soft drinks and the chick flicks we picked up on the way home, they were a bunch of happy campers. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. They were having a lot of fun together.
Finally, things started to quiet down and they broke out the popcorn and movies. I tried to stay out of their way as much as possible and just let them have a good time, but they asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with them. That was such a nice thing to ask me to join them. After the second movie, one by one, they started falling asleep. All that was left was my daughter and I, at least for a few minutes. With her eyes almost closed, she told me how much she loved her birthday party and thanked me.
The next morning the girls were up before I was and had already had their breakfast and cleaned up from last nights festivities. I thought that was very thoughtful of them to do that for me. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the sweet 16 favors I bought for them. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.
