Getting the products I needed for the ceremony and reception required some thought, but as I turned my attention to getting a present for my bridesmaids, it dawned on me that I had a long ways to go yet. We figured it would make more sense to let our guests have them as souveniers then to try to find a place to put 200 champagne flutes. Besides, we were stocked with keepsakes from our wedding and reception, with our wedding guestbook, album, cake topper and more. Our lovely five piece set that I ordered in gorgeous claret, had our guest book with a small area for little keepsakes, pages for the guests to put their names and list the gifts each guest brought. The guest book comes in handy for making out your thank you cards, and it’s nice to have a record of everyone that shared that day with you. The things I purchased were well made, and I spent a lot whole less than I thought I would have to, and had a whole lot more choices. I think one of the funniest part of this whole thing was when it was time for the garter toss. Watching the looks on the guys faces as the groom removed the garter from the brides leg, was priceless. All of them were reaching and pushing into each other with the sole objective of being the one to take home the brides garter. What was really funny was that the winner of the garter toss was talked into participating by the other guys and he was a widower in his 70’s. As the old man walked off with the garter in hand he was smiling from ear to ear.
To toast the bride and groom we were given champagne flutes that had the bride and grooms name printed on them with the date of the wedding ceremony, and we got to take these home as keepsakes of the celebration. After the toast it was time for the bride and groom to take their place on the dance floor for their first dance together as husband and wife. They made such an elegant couple as they danced across the dance floor. After their first dance was over, the dance floor was over run with couples. I think I over extended myself on the dance floor, my feet ached so badly.
We all wished the bride and groom good luck as they left for their honeymoon. Hawaii was the honeymoon destination, from what I was told by one of the guests. Looks like their honeymoon will be just as fabulous as their wedding was. The remaining guests stayed behind for hours and continued to party.
I received my thank you note for my gift and my presence at the wedding and reception, after only two weeks. She must have sent out her thank you cards as soon as she got back from her honeymoon. She picked out tea light place card holders in the shape of silver doves that made the tables shine even more. Flower and crystals adorned the small jewelry boxes that each lady at the wedding got as a gift. All the guys got a key chain with a frog wearing a crown and royal robe on them, which represented the infamous frog prince. The wooden, silver-plated, wholesale jewelry boxes that each of the bridesmaids received had a black velvet lining. My daughter and son in law had each of them engraved with the bride and grooms name and date of the wedding. The girls seemed to really like the thank you gift that my daughter picked out. The three-layered wedding cake they had was topped in debounair fashion with a small castle as the wedding cake topper. Many of her decorations and supplies were top of the line, but she came in well below where I had expected on their wedding budget.
