Choosing a summer favor!

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Planning an outside wedding wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. In fact, it didn’t cost as much as an indoor wedding would have cost us. Having the natural beauty of the outdoors saved us a lot of money on decorations. I checked out a lot of places to have our summer wedding and reception. Instead of having our wedding ceremony and reception on the beach or in a garden, I chose to have it in the park. I was surprised at all the parks available for weddings.

Since I never planned a wedding like this before, I needed all the help I could get. If you’re going to have your ceremony outside, it’s a good idea to have an alternative plan just in case the weather turns on you. So we arranged to have a tent set up to move the ceremony into if necessary, just as a precaution.

Plan “A” was setting up a gorgeous trellis for our ceremony to be performed under and canopies for the reception. I only had to get decorations for my bridal table and the reception tables for our friends and family. With the park as our main theme, I basically had to make sure I had our table settings and maybe throw in a few extra bouquets of flowers. I thought artificial flowers would be best, since we didn’t want a bee invasion ruining our ceremony. The only way you could tell that the flowers were artificial, was by touch, they were beautiful. Although planning wasn’t as difficult a chore as I thought, there were quite a few things to take care of. There are some spectacular summer wedding themes, but the sun can turn your beautiful wedding cake into a gooey pool of confection.

As far as table décor, I found so many fantastic accessories for our reception. As centerpieces for our reception tables I used citronella votive candles and place them in glass globes with flowers around them, and used park bench place card holders for each guest. The chrome bottle openers we bought for our guests were packaged in beautiful favors boxes and given out as a summer wedding favor. One of the most decorative things on our wedding table was our gorgeous wedding cake with the beautiful cake topper I ordered.

I saw this cake topper when I was checking out all the wedding accessories they had to offer, and I knew this was the topper I wanted. They do customizing for the bride and groom. After I sent them a head shot of my fiance and myself they made our bride and groom topper to look exactly like us. What a wonderful momento of our wedding day. Our friends and family were really loved the cake topper and gave us a lot of compliments on it. Everything I ordered for our ceremony and reception was the best in wedding accessories, especially our crystal champagne flutes and silver cake serving set. It was amazing all the super accessories you can buy online.

It was the perfect wedding and reception, just like I had hoped for. Plan B never had to be used, since the weather was so beautiful, and thankfully it remained that way through the whole evening. We had a wonderful DJ that I’m sure, kept the music going long after we left for our honeymoon. There were many good comments about our beautiful wedding ceremony and fun filled reception party we had. The park turned out to be the perfect place to have our wedding and reception. If we should decide somewhere down the line to have a renewal wedding ceremony, I think I’d like to have it in the park again.Technorati Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Great idea for summer wedding

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be to plan my outside wedding and reception. It wasn’t as expensive as an indoor wedding would have been. Since we had the beauty of nature all around us, it wasn’t too expensive to decorate. The first thing on my agenda was to find that perfect place to hold our summer wedding and reception party. I thought about a super beach wedding and reception, or maybe have it in a gorgeous garden, but I decided to have our ceremony and reception in the park. I was surprised at all the parks available for weddings.

I decided to go online and get some expert advice on how to plan the perfect outdoor wedding. If you’re going to have your ceremony outside, it’s a good idea to have an alternative plan just in case the weather turns on you. A tent was suggested just in case the weather turns out badly.

Plan “A” was setting up a gorgeous trellis for our ceremony to be performed under and canopies for the reception. The only real decorations I needed were those for my wedding table and the guests reception tables. About all I needed were a extra flowers and my table settings, thanks to the already present beauty of the park. I thought artificial flowers would be best, since we didn’t want a bee invasion ruining our ceremony. You couldn’t tell they were artificial they were so beautiful, they looked like the real deal. Planning this wedding wasn’t all that hard, but there was a little more than I expected. There are some spectacular summer wedding ideas, but the sun can turn your beautiful wedding cake into a gooey pool of confection.

I found quite a few terrific accessories that I could use for the reception. As centerpieces for our reception tables I used citronella votive candles and place them in glass globes with flowers around them, and used park bench place card holders for each guest. The chrome bottle openers we bought for our guests were packaged in beautiful favors boxes and given out as a summer wedding invitation. The most beautiful part of our wedding table was our cake with it’s gorgeous wedding cake topper.

I saw this cake topper when I was checking out all the wedding accessories they had to offer, and I knew this was the topper I wanted. They do customizing for the bride and groom. After I sent them a head shot of my fiance and myself they made our bride and groom topper to look exactly like us. Talk about the best wedding keepsake you can get. All of our guests were so impressed with our topper, they couldn’t stop talking about it. All the wonderful accessories I ordered for our reception and wedding ceremony came from the same place, including our champagne flutes and silver cake set. You wouldn’t believe all the nice accessories you can buy online.

Everything at the wedding and reception were fantastic. The weather cooperated and we never had to go to plan “B” with the tents. We all loved the super DJ and the fantastic job he was doing, and if I’m right, he probably kept the music and dancing going on for quite a while after we left to go on our honeymoon. There were many good comments about our beautiful wedding ceremony and fun filled reception party we had. I couldn’t have picked a better place than the park for our wedding ceremony and reception party. If we should decide somewhere down the line to have a renewal wedding ceremony, I think I’d like to have it in the park again.

There’s Lots Of Options For A Summer Wedding

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Getting married in the summer has become very popular and I think it’s mostly because there are so many options as to the type of wedding ceremony and reception you want to have. You can have a beautiful back yard ceremony, or maybe a lovely garden wedding with all the flowers in bloom for atmosphere, or maybe you’re the type of person that would prefer a gorgeous ocean side ceremony with a fantastic beach party reception to follow. That’s the one we chose. We had our marriage ceremony just before dusk and had lots of floating candles and tiki torches everywhere. It was so beautiful, it looked like we were getting married in a tropical paradise. To me, the beach is the perfect location for a lovely summer wedding.

Even though our wedding ceremony was performed just before dark, it was still very warm outside. August is one of our hottest months of the summer season, so we kept our wedding party attire cool and comfortable. I wore a very nice white spaghetti strap dress made of a crepe material and the bridesmaids wore floral slip dresses. The groom, best man and groomsmen wore pants and shirts of light linen, so everyone was comfortable and cool during the ceremony. Our flower girl wore an adorable sun dress and the ring boy was dressed in short pants and a short sleeve linen shirt.  We all wore flip flops or sandals, as it would have been just a little difficult walking across the sand in formal footwear.

We were married under a canopy of flowers with a lit tiki torch on each side, and with the sun setting on the horizon of the beautiful blue ocean it was one of the most romantic settings for summer weddings ever. We said our vows, which we each wrote to each other and about thirty seconds after the minister pronounced us man and wife, I heard my brother in law yell, “ now let the party begin”, and it did.

What a party it was too. We had all kinds of seafoods, from lobster to shrimp, lots of salads, desserts and of course our fantastic towering wedding cake. I was able to find the perfect beach wedding cake topper along with all of the beach accessories and supplies I could ever hope for. I checked the internet and found all kinds of starfish, seashell, and other beach related accessories to go with our reception. There were even place card holders, floating candles, and wedding favors that were perfect for our beach themed reception. The wedding favor boxes were really exquisite and could be used later to keep little trinkets in, so it made a nice little keepsake. We had picnic tables all set up as reception tables with candles for lighting and lovely beach themed centerpieces.

Some people took a dip in the ocean, others played volleyball until it got too dark, and we also had an old fashioned clambake right there on the shore. There were bonfires and singing, dancing and lots and lots of partying. We all had such a wonderful time. Everyone complimented me on all the arrangements I had planned and told me they really liked the summer wedding favors we chose for them as thank you gifts.

When we left for our honeymoon the party was still going strong. I’m so glad I decided on a beach wedding, everyone had such a great time and it was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever seen. Everything turned out perfect. Even the weather cooperated.

Just to let you know, the honeymoon was pretty awesome too.
